A Short Story call - "Home"

Anyway I did another short story today, Went for a holiday trip last wk to Japan kind of a Searching trip also, wanted to go rest my mine from all the work. Ever since my 3rd year started in NYP last year i didn't really had a chance to stop and take a break, everyday is just about rushing for work and project until my brain got burn out. The trip was really good for me i got to relax myself, is kind of like a restart button give me the chance to put in fresh idea. Best part of the trip will be a visit to Ghibli museum it was the best exp ever, the place itself is a wonderland and it really give me a lot of inspiration to start doing some short story animation. I always believe a good movie come with a great story, after watching the 10 min short film at ghibli I really understand what is call a good story, without dialog without effect just pure animation and storytelling it can really bring out a message.

So I wrote another short story hope that if got time I also wanted to do a short animation clip.

I call my next short story – “Going Home”

It started went I was a boy; I always wanted to travel around the world because the place I grow up in is too small for me I wanted to see more I wanted to fly.

After I grew up, I made my dream come true in no time I was really flying around the world. Going to different places time to time and visited places I never even thought that I can visit, looking at view that you only can watch from TV, meeting different people around the world and become friend.

Year started to fly, after exploring almost all the place on the map I started to ask myself where I should be heading next. Looking through my note, journal and map I left the last place to go and I can call it an end to my advantage. In no second, I booked the next flight out, pack all my stuff, took the passport, and left the key on the counter and hop on to the cab straight to the airport.

In no time I was on my way to the customs, they look though my passport there was full of different stamp and visa on it is all the places I ever went. The custom offices spoke “Hi Mr. Lim, I see you have been travel around the world. So what will be your next destination” My reply “Home”

A simple Life

Is been 2 mth plus since i posted any stuff kind of slacking off quite alot haha.. but also busy with my work. within this 2 mths. After fusion i didn't really had a chance to write another story, so on early morning on my way to work in the train a idea struck me and i wrote down the idea in my iphone after some write out and help from a new friend i know from work place this is my second story. Hope people will enjoy my story writing, maybe if i have time i will do a  illustration for this story too.

Anyway i name this short story - "Just a simple life"

‘Life is simple’ - that’s how we think and what we all want, which ironically, makes it so difficult for all of our lives. Isn't that funny? I mean, isn't that all what we want to achieve our lives? To live a happy life that we can call it ours? This is a short story about my life...

It started off when I was born in 1985, where my life started to draw its first image. Nothing was important at that point of time - when we were hungry, we cried; when we saw something new, we laughed; everything looked so special to us.

As we grew older, TV, toys and other games seemed so wonderful. Life was carefree as we could simply watch all the cartoons we want; play all the games we want and when it was time for our meals, our parents would provide them for us almost instantly.

As years passed by, our lives started to change. We were required to attend schools and our times of fun and games halved. But when we start to meet new friends and learn new things, we’ll begin to see the world rather differently.

As we turned older, we started studying more - not for learning, but for the results. Our parents would focus more on our results than the process of learning and gaining knowledge. This was when the stress sets in and we slowly start to forget what is fun.

After we’ve graduate from school, we progress to another important stage of life - meeting the opposite sex; the one. Isn't that what was being young about? We would get to know more and more people, and there would be some who turn out to be special. This is when I start to fall in love for that special someone; although of course, not everyone’s love will be accepted. Mine is just happened to be a person, that the special someone broke my heart and allowed me to taste that first emotional pain in my life. As a result, I learnt how to protect myself from this pain, where I started to build a barrier because I do not want to get hurt again. This was when my life started to get a bit more complicated.

A few years passed. This is the stage where a boy grows up to become a man and would plan his future with the woman he plans to live with forever. Although the Singapore Arms Forces is indeed a place where you get to learn a little more about the world, it was not really a waste of time. During my army days, I got to know a lot of people; people coming from different backgrounds, and that was when I learnt how to judge people.

When I was serving my time in army, a shocking news turned my world upside down. I received a call that my mother won't make it. At that moment, I was shock. I didn't know what to do. Have you ever imagined the thought of when you started to have a small family and your parents would help you take care of your kids? Bring them out for a nice dinner? Everything was in shatters after receiving the call. This is when you learn that the most painful thing is not getting rejected by someone who you think is special, but losing a person whom you believe you are the special him or her. My life suddenly became empty and I lost that side of my future. That was when I learnt that life is fragile. Why are we not enjoying the present and constantly focus on a future that maybe destroyed anytime.

I started to make a big changes in my life. After I finished serving army, I went back to school again. but this time with a different mindset. What I wanted was not the results, but more of the fact that I wanted to learn. But it was difficult; I worried whether I was able to cope; how would I pay my school fees; whether I should get a part-time job, and if I do, where would I find the time for my school work? Problems arose even though it had not happened. Life got even more stressful and I started to lose track with what was the most important thing in life. Everything had suddenly become important.

After I graduated, bigger problems started to set in, such as how do I get a job; what will its pay be like, and whether it would be something I want to do. Things like these will make you harder to breathe. Fortunately for me, I found a job that pays well, with the work load rather reasonable and everything went well.

We only have one life, yet we spend only one-third of it enjoying and the rest of it on how to make use of our life. Why do we harbor on our future and not enjoy the present? We should laugh, cry and do whatever we want to because its own life. We will always experience setbacks in our lives but these difficult periods are the times when you learn how to overcome them. All of us need to take a break from time to time. Enjoy life and life will be more chill.
